A NEW CHAPTER........
I was recently asked to take on the running of our worship department at my church, in the role of worship director. Our current worship pastor really feels led to pull back and put her focus on some other very important areas in her life. She will continue to lead worship and mentor me as I take on this new role.
Wow. What a journey this has been as John and I have prayed and talked, prayed and talked, until we came back with a solid "Yes".
All I can say is that if you were to tell me 2 years ago that I would be doing this, let alone even leading worship every other week...I would have totally laughed at you!! I would have been like, "there's NO way."
I wasn't striving for or going after any of this. God's plan has simply unfolded before me and I have chosen to say yes to Him when I hear Him call.
What I was doing was simple....faithfully serving my worship team for 6-7 years, pursuing God with a passion that cannot be quenched, working on my character and seeking after maturity in Christ, studying the word, getting mentored by people who are much wiser then I, strengthening my marriage and so on. As I just sought after the Lord, just like His word tells us..."All these things shall be added unto you."
So, I share this with you for a couple reasons.......
One, so that you know that God's plans for you are probably much bigger, or at least much better, then you can imagine on your own.
Second, you don't have to strive and push and try to get what you want. Relax, serve Him and others, be faithful, TRUST Him and be ready. He will make a way for you, He loves you and has your very best at heart. He knows what He has purposed you to do, you don't have to force it....just make yourself ready.
Lastly, God is in the business of turning a little into much. Give Him what you think is small, and watch Him feed the multitudes with it.
Above all, I'll say it again...TRUST Him, relax, cease striving...He has a beautiful plan for your life. Just be available and be ready. :)

Congratulations! I just know this will be great for you! What a wonderful God we serve. So as the worship pastor are you in charge of all the music program or what is the role of the worship pastor?

Well, I am NOT a Pastor yet :)..that may happen down the road but I'm not quite ready for those BIG shoes! :)
But, yes, I will be running our worship department. :)

I met you when were in Tom and Lis, Chris and Lauras wedding 6 years ago...I found your blog through them and I just wanted to say that this post was really encouraging to me. My husband and I just started a new adventure by moving to Denver. I sometimes feel like I have no idea what we are doing here except being obedient to the Lord. Reading your post was really a blessing. Congratulations on your new position! Im sure you will do great.

Hi Jess! I havent commented in awhile, Im so excited for you as you take on this new position, I wish you well! A couple of things I wanted to mention , your friend Danae, that you went camping with, her hair is awesome! My 7 year old daughter, Kassidy is very small for her age and my Mom bought her some sweatsuits to wear to cheer practice. Here she comes walking out of her bedroom in a brown velour sweatsuit and all I could think of was you:0)Maybe I'll post a pic of her on my blog.God Bless~Krystal
