Being Married to Clark Kent..........
*Disclaimer...I don't want anyone to think badly of the city we live in, it's a great city! The stuff that happens to us is in no way a reflection of the city as a whole...I don't know any other residents who have these experiences, just us..... :)
Well, all I can say is it's a good thing my husband started carrying an extra superhero cape in the car...because it sure has come in handy quite a few times! :)
OK, so here is the story....
Yesterday we are headed out for a nice little family dinner at one of our favorite Mongolian grills. As we are getting out of the car, this group of about 6 teenage boys wearing backpacks run past us laughing and yelling. They were running really fast, it just didn't look right. So, John got on his cell and called the police department and asked if there had been a theft in the area reported or anything else. They told him that nothing had been called in. Just then, two employees from the restaurant came running out and were looking around. John asked them if they were looking for a group of teens, they said yes and that the teens had ran out without paying for their rather large bill. Of coarse. No other people were around but we were right there as these kids flee the building. John says, "I'll go follow them and get on duty officers on them...we'll try and get'em." Can you hear the music from Superman starting at this point? :)
SO, John puts on his cape and flies off to save the day. Meanwhile, me and the boys (very used to this scenario) go ahead and get a table and sit down for dinner. We were probably there for about 20 minutes when John returned. Josiah looks up from dinner and casually asks (as if it's normal dinner time conversation).."Did you get the bad guys Dad?". John says..."Almost...but not this time son...but they know we are on to them" John takes off his cape and sits down for dinner.
Apparently, John followed these guys for quite awhile in our car...they were completely unaware of him. He was on his phone the whole time giving info to all the officers who were en route. He followed the kids into an apartment complex...parked and watched them all pull different colored shirts out of their backpacks and change... so that they would no longer match the description of the group of teens wearing "white t-shirts"...clever...think they have done this before?? Anyway, the on-duty officers arrived and took their places around the complex and started closing in. Well, unfortunately one of the teens saw one of the police cars and all the teens took off different directions and quickly disappeared into apartments. So, apparently they all live there. So, nope he didn't get the bad guys this time..but hopefully they know that the police are on to them.
I could tell many other stories like this.....like the time we were just going to do some shopping at Target on a sunny summer day, or the time John was grabbing a quick bite to eat in the McDonalds drive thru....maybe I'll save those for another post. :) But, such is life when you are married to a superhero! :) What is most funny to me is how "normal" these incidents are to our 9 year old!

I love your stories!
By the way, what is your favorite Mongolian restaurant? It couldn't be the same as my favorite restaurant could it?
Changs? Love that place!
i enjoyed that story immensely!!!
Just stumbled on your site!
Jess,
I love reading about your adventures! What a life of excitement that you lead... :)
It looks like John's exciting stories will live on through your blog, after all!
WOW! That is quite the story.
I peeked at your blog through Firefox and it there were no posts only the music code...and I thought "Oh no!" but then checked through IE and it was fine...weird!
May I ask who sings this worship song? We sing it at church and I would love to copycat and put it on my blog too. Thanks! :)
Changs...mmmmmm...just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It might not be the same one you were referring too, but it is one of my favorite places to eat, and alas, there are no good ones in Roseburg! :(
Hi Jess,
Just stopped in to see if I could eyeball the problem you were having, but, voila!, you solved it!
And I agree with Roberta - great choice on the song...I wanted to just lift my arms up in worship!
(Alas, the nursing pumpkin prohibited that, but my heart was definitely lifted up!)
Thanks everyone! :)
Roberta...Chris Tomlin sings that song...he also does another that I like and we sing at church called "Wonderful Maker". Thanks again for your help! :)
Karen, thanks for checking in on me! :) That's my heart..to lead people to worship God! :) But, I love a sweet nursing babe...precious times.
That rocks!
