More Seaside Pictures!!

Ahhh...the paddleboats...that was interesting! :) There is a river that runs through the town of Seaside, and you can rent various different devices to travel it. Paddleboats sounded real fun to us!

The problem was it was a VERY warm day and wearing those lifejackets was like torture...but it was the rule. Another problem is paddling those boats is work! This was especially tough for John and I as we had spent the earlier portion of the day on funcycles (see pictures below). Our legs were shot...we were useless. Then we had John II who didn't want to sit in the boat but hang over the edge and try and fall in! :) He was also quite hot, so I can't blame him. In my parents boat they had Storm and Josiah who would "forget" to peddle and then Josiah who had to go potty so bad they had to row the boat somewhere where he could jump off and go...too funny. Then we overhear my Mom telling my Dad that he was steering them in the wrong direction, and he was arguing back that he wasn't... as they were heading away from where they were supposed to be going. Well, we were laughing because we knew that when we had been close enough, John had grabbed the back corner of the boat and turned them in the wrong direction! It was so funny....I'm still laughing about that. This whole trip was such a blast but I think we were all glad to get off the paddleboats!
Doesn't that lifejacket make a nice necktie on John? :)

The Funcycles... These were SOOO fun! Well, let me warn you though...you have to carry them from town to the beach and back, AND riding down the beach against the wind is VERY hard work. But just when you think you can't take it anymore, you get to turn around and ride with the wind and that was a total blast! John and I were whipping around in circles and doing figure 8's and stuff. The interesting thing about these is that they don't balance themselves...if you get off they fall over.
John riding through all the birds.
Josiah trying out our funcycle..it was a little big for him. We rode them all the way down to the North end of the beach where our house was so the kids could see them. You can see some of the houses where we were staying in this picture. Those houses sell for around 1.8 million!!! Wow!
Look at my very spiritual child caught praying by the fire :) Awwwwwww
This was John II throwing up his arms and saying "I did it!" everytime he threw a stick or wad of paper in the fire (The fire is not as close as it appears!)

I still have some GREAT pictures of the actual ocean and sunsets and more...coming soon!

did you rent a surrey to? Just another contraption to tire you out FAST! Gotta love those funcycles, but you are right, its a serious HIKE to get down to the wet sand in Seaside. I swear its like a half a mile to the water at high tide!
You're killing me with these pictures just so you know! There is such a special place in my heart for Seaside...its one of those childhood things I think...

I really wanted to do a surrey!! But, the bigs ones were pretty expensive and we had already done so much. Plus, I don't think our legs could have handled it! I'm sure it would have been MUCH more fun then the paddleboats! I don't really recommend those. I noticed they had a sign that said "No Refunds"...I thought that was odd, I wondered why someone would ask for a refund. By the time we got back and I was hot, tired and could barely walk....I felt like someone should have paid me to paddle that thing! :) But, I will say the memory of John turning my parents the wrong way and hearing my mom telling my Dad he was taking them the wrong way and him insisting that he wasn't...priceless! :)

I am not so sure that John's life jacket could count as a floatation device for him! :) Hilarious!

Your vacation looks awesome! I am so glad you had a good time. I love all the pictures including the one of John in his life jacket. But I have to ask, was he able to button it up himself or were the T-rex arms too short?

What fun...although I don't think I could have paid to take paddle boats out (as you found out they are hard work).

I love the Ocean...and it looks so nice down there. Glad that you got time to rest and relax (is that possible with four kids and parents along?)
