WHAT'S YOUR MISSION STATEMENT?
My husband recently had some leadership training he attended at his work. The class sounds like it was awesome, John really enjoyed it. He shared many things with me from that class, but there was one thing that really stood out to me. John said that the guy doing the training asked everyone what their department's mission statement was. The guys answered, "To be a Superior Police Department". The teacher said, "OK, then that is your filter that you should run every decision you make on the job through." So, when our officers have a choice to make in the field, they ask themselves which choice lines up with being a superior police department. Running everything they do through the "filter" of their mission statement will keep them from ever getting off track or making poor choices.
See where I am going with this yet? :) So, the Lord really began to speak to me about this, and I thought to myself "I need a mission statement". That way, when difficult choices come my way, or someone crosses me, I can run my response or reaction through the filter of my mission statement. I also asked John to write one for our family, and I think I will write specific ones for myself as a wife and as a mother. But, I came up with my general mission statement for my life, here it is....
"To know God more, to glorify Him, and to change the world around me."
My mission statement is now my "filter" that I will run my choices through. Now, when someone does something that upsets or hurts me, before I respond, I can look at my mission statement and choose a response that reflects it. When I stand at a crossroad in life, I simply ask myself.... "What lines up with my mission statement?"
So, what's your mission statement? :)

Good word.
That's a really good idea! I think I'll try that for myself! I was so proud of you on Sunday when you were talking about how God uses us despite ourselves. It's such a comfort to know that I'm not the only one who doubts sometimes, but that I can turn that doubt around and be CONFIDENT that Jesus is using me no matter what I went through in the past! You're awesome Jess, and you have so much wisdom to share!!
Thank you Kenz :)
