Josiah turns 9!!!!

On November 8th, Josiah turned 9 years old. Wow, am I really old enough to be the Mother of a 9 year old? Don't answer that. :)
Here is Josiah and his best buddy, Cameron. They have been best buddies since they met in 1st grade and now they are in 3rd grade together. If you have looked at the pictures on here with me, Mary and Karon...you'll know who taught Josiah that winning grin!! Well, considering we had just got back from our cruise and DisneyWorld, Josiah didn't have a big party this year. But, we did take him out to dinner at Chuck-E-Cheese and he was as happy as can be. We got him one gift :). But you know, he was so thankful just for that...I think dinner would have been enough for him. He's just such a great kid, doesn't ask for a lot, and is always happy with what he has. In this day and age, that is such a blessing.
I'm not sure John realized this day was about Josiah. :) He was in heaven at Chuck-E-Cheese! Going on a weeknight is the way to go. We pretty much had that place to ourselves up until about 6:30pm.Josiah is such a blessing, always has been. He is an amazing child. My life changed forever 9 years ago when they placed him in my arms, I remember feeling like I had waited my whole life for something that was now here. I felt like he was the missing puzzle piece in my life, that was put into place in that moment. I knew I didn't deserve this beautiful gift from God. But I also knew Josiah was a child of God, destined for greatness, and he had been placed in my care. I was overwhelmed that God had blessed me in this way, and entrusted me with such a precious boy. There are many days I feel totally unqualified for the job, but I know God doesn't assign us a task he hasn't equipped us to do. God's grace is new every morning! There are days I feel like I have failed and I think, "Man, I hope Josiah doesn't end up in therapy one day talking about this!" :o) But, I know I cannot be or do it all. I trust God to make up for where I lack, and to continue to speak to me on how to raise Josiah. This child is not "of" me, this child is of God. In honor of Josiah's birthday, always let your child know that he or she was born with purpose, that they are chosen, that they are called into this world with a great destiny. Happy Birthday Josiah!!!

Happy Birthday buddy! What a beautiful tribute to your son.
Jess, you are such an awesome person. You have great wisdom, and so much truth to your words!! Children are truly a blessing. And I too hope mine won't be needing too much counseling. Maybe a counseling fund along with the college fund! :)lol
WOW! I cant believe he is 9. I am sure you are a wonderful mommy. I hear so from Holly. Josiah is adorable and boy you are going to have to watch those girls around him!
Happy birthday Josiah! Jess, your children are a refection of you and John, and it is very obvious how great you both have done with your kids. Blessings on your family.
Hi! Thanks for commenting on my blog a few days ago. I know I've met you before too...years ago I was at Covington Days with Jaime Herrera and you were singing in a band called Strawberry something something... I don't remember. I do remember you have a beautiful voice though. :)
Your blog is fun! What a beautiful family! Take care!
