King David
This was my devotion today......
My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?" All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying, "A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up from the place he lies." Even my close friend, whom I trusted, who shared my bread, has lifted up their heel against me. BUT you, O Lord, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them. I know you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever. Praise be to the Lord, the God of Isreal, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen. (Psalm 41:5-13)
Awesome.
We all know there were people who had reason to be angry at David but I think his response here is powerful. David knew that while man may look on the outward, God sees his heart. David grieved for his sins and and God called David "a man after My own heart" even despite his sins of adultry and murder.
In The Message Bible verse 12 of that Psalm reads..
"You know me inside and out, You hold me together, You never fail to stand me tall in Your presence so I can look you in the eye."
Dear King David, when I get to heaven....lets meet up at Starbucks (I am sure there will be a few in heaven!), you are one person I so want to talk with. Your friend, Jess :-)
